Capstone: Advanced Research
Course Description: Capstone preparatory course. Under the supervision of a faculty member, each student selects a research topic of interest, conducts an in-depth literature review, formulates hypotheses and predictions, designs an experiment, obtains IRB approval, and prepares a formal research proposal. Proposed research will be conducted in Senior Research.
Course Goals and Objectives: The science of psychology is based on empirical research. Each research study seeks to both replicate and extend our current understanding of how biology, cognition, society, and/or culture influence human behavior. This course is designed to allow you to work as a research psychologist. Your overall goal is to design an original research study that will be conducted next semester. Ultimately, you want this study to be suitable for publication in a psychology journal or presentation at a psychology conference. In order to accomplish this goal, you need to:

Each student prepares a research article following APA publication guidelines and presents the findings in a public form.
